MISSION

ReNew Earth Running’s purpose is to use movement to protect and heal sacred ecosystems by supporting Indigenous sovereignty and environmental stewardship for Tribal Nations and Indigenous leadership.

VISION

ReNew Earth Running envisions a world where sovereign Indigenous communities are supported through meaningful and sustainable investments where they live, with the health and wellbeing of their communities and sacred ecosystems. We know that in order for this world to exist, we have to change our relationships with the sacred elements and our non-human relatives. Indigenous cultures have traditionally used their bodies through movement to carry messages, be in ceremony or greet the sun, which is why using movement as a form of advocacy is important to our mission.

COMMUNITY GUIDELINES

Practice self focus:
Attend to and speak about your own experiences and responses. Do not speak for a whole group or express assumptions about the experience of others.

Try it on:
Be willing to “try on” new ideas, or ways of doing things that might not be what you prefer or are familiar with.

Understand the difference between intent and impact:
Try to understand and acknowledge impact. Denying the impact of something said by focusing on the intent is often more destructive than the initial interaction.

Practice “Both/And”:
When speaking, substitute “and” for “but.” This practice acknowledges and honors multiple realities

Refrain from blaming or shaming others:
Practice giving skillful feedback.

Move up, Speak up:
Encourage full participation by all present. This is an intergenerational space that centers BIPOC and 2SLGBTQIA+ voices. Make sure you’re uplifting, prioritizing, moving up as a listener and ally.

Practice mindful listening:
Try to avoid planning what you’ll say as you listen to others. Be willing to be surprised, to learn something new. Listen with your whole self.

Confidentiality:
Take home learnings but don't identify anyone other than yourself, now or later. If you want to follow up with anyone regarding something they said in this space you can do so.

Right to Pass:
You can say “I pass” if you don’t wish to speak or share.

Respect the space:
As we engage with each other please remember to respect each other and the shared space. Be mindful when addressing others and sensitive topics.
