Land Acknowledgement

ReNew Earth Running acknowledges that we are founded and based on the unceded ancestral lands of the Dakota people. We honor the Dakota Oyate, the original stewards of this land—Mni Sota Makoce, meaning "Land Where the Waters Reflect the Clouds"—and recognize that Minneapolis is built on Dakota homelands. Our mission and vision are rooted in the interconnectedness to Indigenous communities across Turtle Island and beyond.

We honor their ancestors and their living descendants, who continue to care for and protect this land despite generations of forced removal, broken treaties, settler colonization, genocide, relocation, and ongoing injustice. The Dakota people are still here. They have always been here. Their presence is strong, their culture is thriving, and their resilience endures.

We offer gratitude to the Dakota knowledge keepers, Elders, and communities who have carried teachings of balance, reciprocity, and reverence for the land, waters, animals, and all beings. These teachings guide us in how to live in right relationship—with the earth and with one another.

We are committed to learning from and standing with Indigenous communities. To know the land is to know its First People. Wherever we go, we acknowledge and honor the Indigenous nations of those lands and strive to be good relatives in all our actions. May we continue to walk forward together in ways rooted in respect, repair, and reciprocity.
